Pointless Grace

It was John MacArthur who wrote, "Grace means nothing to a person who does not know he is sinful and that such sinfulness means he is separated from God and damned. It is therefore pointless to preach grace until the impossible demands of the Law and the reality of guilt before God are preached." This is as simple as telling a patient that he is sick before telling him that he needs a cure. Why would any patient want a cure if he isn’t first convinced that he is sick? The Law must precede the Gospel to convince the sinner that he needs the Savior. Charles Spurgeon said, "I do not believe that any man can preach the Gospel who does not preach the Law." There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

Hello Marc. Thanks for your prayers, my brother. Annie and I are still patiently (?) waiting. As soon as she does have the baby, and I am able, I will post something on GCM (or on here, if GCM is not back up).

The Lord bless you, and keep you...

James

I am deeply troubled and disgusted by the comments you made in "Pointless Grace". By which right do you think you have to force your beliefs on others? You frighten me, to the deepest core. Please, please, please do not have children. There is no reason to unleash another christian on this planet.

Anonymous,

What was said that "deeply troubled and disgusted" you? And, how am I forcing "my beliefs" on anyone else? Aren't you, by typing your comments, and your "beliefs", or lack thereof, actually forcing, and trying to force your "beliefs" on me?

Perhaps, the prospect of a God to whom you will have to give an account is the thing that has you "deeply troubled and disgusted"? Perhaps, it is the realization that you stand in need of reconciliation to Him, through genuine repentance and His forgiveness? Perhaps, it is the realization that nothing you can do can earn this forgiveness, and that it took the death of Jesus on the cross to purchase it for you?...

God was, and is deeply troubled and disgusted with sin... So, the Son of God came into this world, as God manifest in flesh, to take the punishment for sins. He was bruised, beaten, battered, and bleeding, dying on a cross, taking the place of sinners, and taking the anger of God for sin. Three days later, He rose from the dead, and defeated death, demonstrating that everything He said, and did, including the payment for sin, was accepted by God.

Perhaps, you don't see that you are a sinner? Whether you see it or not, and whether you believe it or not, the truth is the truth. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God". This includes you, and me... When you've lied, stolen (no matter the value of the item), looked with lust (which Jesus said was adultery), hated without right cause (which Scripture said is murder), and not given God first place in your life, at all time, you have have sinned. These sins (and my list is not exhaustive, by the way) have separated you from God, and have caused His judgment to rest on you, and wait for you for that last day, when He will judge the world in righteousness.

The sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ, demonstrated God's revulsion toward sin, and sinners, and at the same time, His love and mercy toward those who would repent, and trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father [God] except through me."

If you are trying to get to Heaven without Jesus, you will end up in Hell. Even so, He stands ready to forgive you, and to reconcile you to the God whom you've transgressed, if you will repent - confess your sins and forsake them; realize, admit, accept and confess that your sins are what crucified Jesus, because of His great love - and surrender your life to Jesus, by faith, trusting in Him, and what He did as sufficient to make you right with God, and confessing Him as your Lord and Savior. It was His great love that bought forgiveness for all who repent, and trust in Jesus, and this great kindness of His can never be earned, meritted, or repaid.

Please, please consider your current state. Please, please, repent, and turn to Jesus, calling on Him to save you, and trusting Him to save you, before it is too late!

I hope that it was this truth that has frightened you to the deepest core. The Scriptures tell us that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". May what I have written cause you to be wise, to salvation, which is in Christ Jesus.

Praying for you,

James
